NJ CRC Could Miss Deadline for Accepting New Business Applications

The New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission, or NJ CRC, will fail to meet their pre-established deadline for small business licenses this weekend. This statutory deadline was set to keep the growth of the legal weed marketplace on track. Though the commission failed to meet the deadline. They have established a new licensing platform that will help process applicants down the line. This marks a huge step forward in launching this new industry. 

Six months after signing the new legislation into law, the commission would need to have established a set of rules and guidelines. As well as a date, in which legal weed sales could begin. The process for licensing allows for the growth, processing and distribution to the public. 

What does it mean?

Well.. nothing right now. While there may be a delay in the processing of new licenses for dispensaries. It is rumored that the commission will instead soon provide a date for filing applications. Then the necessary materials that an applicant would need to submit.

The intent is to give everyone a clear picture of what they will need and time to collect the necessary pieces for their applications. This will help level the playing field when it comes to smaller businesses competing with larger ones.

It seems that regardless of the reason for the delay, it will continue to be a rocky waiting game for prospective applicants.
